My Kit review is based on my personal experience using Kit (formerly known as ConvertKit) for about 5 years. 

I also spent many hours of additional research to be sure I was covering every angle. You’re welcome.

Kit makes it easy to collect email addresses from your website, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc. 

Then, with Kit, you can easily send messages to your audience that land in their Inbox, NOT spam folder.

Kit also has an amazing feature that I’ll tell you about in a moment. Very few competitors have it. I think it’s reason alone to try Kit.

Plus, Kit has a 14-day free trial with no card required, so, like, duh, you have nothing to lose by giving Kit a shot.

What Is ConvertKit? / What is Kit?

ConvertKit is email marketing software. 

Kit lets you easily collect email addresses from your website, social media, YouTube, and more. 

Author, James Clear, uses Kit to send a weekly email newsletter to his audience.

And then you can send out beautiful-looking email newsletters, product offers, and anything you want to communicate.

What’s even more important is that Kit gives data to learn more about your audience and customers. Plus, you get the ability to have the software tag each subscriber based on their interests.

That way, you deliver the right message at the right time to the right person.

In this Kit review, I’ll use both names (Kit and ConvertKit), but I’ll mostly stick with Kit.

Is Kit Legit?

Kit is as legit as it gets in the email marketing industry. 

I’ve used Kit / ConvertKit myself to help clients make money for about 5 years.

Kit has been in the business for 11 years, and during that time, they’ve amassed over 600,000 customers. Together, those creators and entrepreneurs send out 2.5 billion emails every month.

Yes, that's a billion with a B. The folks at Kit are used to working at a huge scale.

Worried that you send a lot of emails? Think you might crash their system? Ha! Even if you’re running a big company, your emails will be a drop in the bucket for a platform like Kit.

Is Kit Worth It?

Kit is 100% worth it for anyone looking to grow their business. 

Why’s the conclusion of my Kit review so positive? Here’s my logic:

  • The plans are reasonably priced (and there’s even a free newsletter option)
  • The price increases as your subscriber list grows – meaning you’ll only have to pay more if you succeed in attracting more followers.
  • Email marketing is famous for its high return on investment (ROI). You can earn $422 for every dollar spent.
  • Kit helps you get sponsored! You can make money showing ads, if you want.
  • Kit helps you gain more subscribers by recommending your newsletter to others.

Kit offers 3 different pricing plans:

  • Newsletter – A free plan for a single user who wants to send one email sequence. You can use this plan for up to 10,000 subscribers.
  • Creator – Starting at $25 per month, this plan gives you unlimited automations and unlimited email sequences. Up to 2 users can access the account. 
  • Creator Pro – Starting at $50 per month, this plan includes unlimited automations, unlimited email sequences, and unlimited users.

The two paid plans get more expensive as your subscriber list grows. For example, let’s say you’re paying $25 per month for the Creator plan. Once you get over 1,000 subscribers, the monthly price rises to $41 per month.

You’ll also have to pay more if you opt for monthly (rather than annual billing).

My ConvertKit review is enthusiastic because, while nothing is perfect, ConvertKit proves they care about their customers. They keep improving the product, making it more useful and offering a good price.

What Is the Catch With Kit? 

The only catch with Kit is that the paid plans get more expensive as your subscriber list grows. I actually like this model because it lets you get started for cheap. You just need to know that the price will increase once your subscriber list passes a certain threshold. 

Email marketing with Kit or any other platform is NOT a way to get rich quickly. It’s a real business that takes time. But you can actually earn a profit from day one, which is nice.

Is Kit Safe?

Kit, also known as ConverKit, is totally safe to use. Remember, it’s a major company with over half a million users – including bigwigs and celebs. People with the resources to use any platform have decided to trust ConvertKit.

And guess what comes up when you Google “ConvertKit scam?” Nothing! (Or nothing that related to an actual scam, anyway). 

Now, Kit does collect personal data. But let’s be real – all digital platforms do that nowadays. And in their privacy policy, Kit promises they’ll never sell or rent your data to any third parties.

Kit Pros and Cons

I’ve poured over Kit reviews. I’ve read every inch of their website. I’ve used Kit myself for years.

After all that research, these are the main pros and cons I’ve discovered.

Kit Pros:

  • It’s cheap to get started. The price depends on your subscriber count. So, for newsletter newbies, this is a super affordable option.
  • There’s a 14-day free trial for paid plans. That’s plenty of time to decide if you like the user interface.
  • It’s a comprehensive email marketing platform. From managing a paid newsletter to designing professional email templates, you can do pretty much anything email-related.

Kit Cons:

  • The analytics and reporting are limited. Other marketing platforms give you more numbers to crunch. 
  • It can get expensive as your subscriber list grows. You might start paying just $25 per month for a Creator plan. But imagine you eventually get 105,000 subscribers. You’ll find yourself paying $566 a month, at least!
  • Kit reviews aren’t always positive. The platform only gets 3.0 stars on Trustpilot, and there are lots of complaints about customer service.

In my opinion and experience, Kit’s pros outweigh the cons by a wide margin – especially for content creators. 

Kit has tools to help you gain more email subscribers, monetize your email newsletter, make web pages without coding, sell courses, and more. Kit is also outstanding for affiliate marketing.

I’ve used Kit for exactly that. In one company I worked with, we promoted gig companies to side hustlers. We got paid when our audience joined a new company. Our audience was happy with us for introducing them to these reputable companies that paid them for work.

Kit Reviews

Kit is a super popular platform, so it’s no surprise the internet is full of ConvertKit reviews.

Surprisingly, the platform is only rated average on Trustpilot. But there are plenty of positive Kit reviews mixed in!

In a 5-star review, someone called Kit “the most intuitive platform I’ve used.”

Another user left a 4-star ConvertKit review. They said they had complaints about the price and the “lack of design features,” but they appreciated the “helpful customer service.”

In another 4-star Kit review, a user called the platform “decent,” saying it’s “easy to make landing pages and send newsletters.”

Now, let’s look at a 1-star Kit review where someone slams the “terrible” customer service. Apparently, this user couldn’t successfully send emails using the platform, and Kit’s customer support team didn't resolve the issue. 

This is one of several ConvertKit reviews I found that complain about the company’s customer service.

Email marketing, whether it’s with Kit or another provider, is a great business to start with 10k. And it’s a legit way how to turn 10k into 100k. 

You can build an entire company with email newsletters. Then, you can put your online business for sale to make millions of dollars. The founders of the Morning Brew newsletter sold part of the company, valued at $75 million dollars. Whoa.
