In my Target affiliate program review, I’ll show you how much money you can make promoting Target.

What Is The Target Affiliate Program?

The Target affiliate program (technically called the Target Partners Program) pays bloggers and content creators a commission when they promote Target products that result in a sale.

If you become a Target affiliate, you’ll post content about Target products along with links to the Target website. When someone clicks a link and buys something within 7 days, you’ll earn a commission of up to 8%.

The Target affiliate program lets you earn commissions from one of the world’s most popular retailers.

The Target Partners Program is a great way to make money online. That’s why I’m posting this Target affiliate program review – I want you to learn more about this opportunity!

The Target affiliate program, AKA Target Partners Program, is run by Impact, which is a major affiliate marketing management company.

What Is The Target Creator Program?

The Target Creator Program is a subsection of the Target Affiliate Program that’s designed specifically for social media influencers.

The Target Creator Program is harder to get into than the Target Affiliate Program because you need a sizable social media following. However, Target doesn’t state an official minimum follower count at this time.

The Target Creator Program can be more lucrative than the Target Affiliate Program. The commissions for the Target Creator Program go as high as 10%, and you can earn a monthly bonus.

As a Target Creator, you’ll get your own “Target Storefront,” which will appear on Target’s website and app. You can also display your Target Storefront on your own website or blog.

If you don’t have a website yet, check out Squarespace because they make it fast, easy, and affordable. Or look over my review of the best website builder.

Your Target Storefront is an online store where you can promote a curated collection of Target products. It’s a super cool feature – and one of the main reasons this Target Creator program review is so positive!

Chantel Gray is a member of the Target Creator program.
Members of the Target Creator Program get their own Target Storefronts.

What Is The Difference Between The Target Affiliate Program and The Target Creator Program / Target Affiliate Program vs Target Creator Program

Here are the main differences between the standard Target Partners Program (AKA Target Affiliate Program) and the more lucrative Target Creator Program for influencers:

  • The Target Partners Program is for bloggers, website owners, and influencers; The Target Creator Program is only for influencers.
  • Target Partners get commissions of up to 8%; Target Creators earn up to 10% plus monthly bonus opportunities.
  • Target Partners share affiliate links and banners on their blogs or websites; Target Creators promote products through social media and Target Storefronts.

In this Target affiliate program review, I’ll talk about both programs. This is basically a Target Partner Program review and a Target Creator Program review wrapped into one!

Is The Target Affiliate Program Legit?

Here, in my Target affiliate program review, I can confirm that the program is 100% legit.

Target is a public company on the New York Stock Exchange. Target earns over $100 billion in annual revenue!3

The details of the Target affiliate program make it legit, with commission rates as high as 8%. The Target affiliate program also has a 7-day cookie window. This means if someone clicks your Target affiliate link, as long as they make a purchase within 7 days, you’ll get a commission.

Compare this to the Amazon affiliate program, which has a cookie window of just 1 day.

So the verdict of this Target partner program review is in: This is a legit way to make money through your blog, website, YouTube, or social media!

Is The Target Creator Program Legit?

I’ve done a lot of research for this Target Creator Program review, and I’m positive the program is legit!

Not only does Target earn over $100 billion in annual revenue, but it also has over 2,000 stores and 45 unique-owned brands.

The fact that Target is so big matters for two reasons:

  1. Your Instagram followers and TikTok followers are probably already shopping there, so it’ll be easy to promote Target products.
  2. A company with so much brand recognition isn’t going to risk its reputation by scamming influencers.

Is The Target Affiliate Program Worth It?

The Target affiliate program (actually called the Target Partner Program) is worth it for most content creators like bloggers, vloggers, social media influencers, and more.

As a Target affiliate marketer, you can earn commissions of up to 8%. So if you promote toys and sell $100 worth of, let’s say, Transformers and Disney princesses, you’d earn $8.

Target says you can expect an EPC (Earnings per 100 Clicks) of about $13 dollars. So, for every 100 clicks on your link, you should earn about $13.

Another fact that makes Target’s affiliate program worth it is that Target sells a wide variety of products. No matter your niche, you’ll find something to promote on the Target website.

Do you host a travel YouTube channel? You can make money as a Target affiliate promoting luggage, cameras, and more.

Or maybe you publish a Dungeons and Dragons blog. Promote comfy chairs for those 8-hour sessions!

Here’s my main suggestion in this Target affiliate program review: Apply for the Target program alongside other affiliate programs that relate more strongly to your niche.

That way, you can write about niche-specific brands that your readers love while also having the Target program as a nice catch-all on the side.

I’d also join the Temu affiliate program. This way, you can offer the Target shopping experience people love alongside the deeply discounted generic products that Temu offers.

Also, resellers like to shop in bulk on Temu for deep discounts. They know What Flips and how to resell those Temu items for a profit. So you’ll make money when they buy from Temu.

For more revenue-maximizing techniques, read my article on how to make 10k a month.

Is The Target Creator Program Worth It?

My main takeaway for this Target Creator Program review is that the program is 100% worth it – but only for legit influencers with a social media following.

Not only do commissions go as high as 10%, but you can also earn solid monthly bonuses when you hit revenue targets.

With just $1,000 in monthly revenue, you’ll get an extra $100. And if you reach $100,000 in monthly revenue, you’ll see a fat $10,000 check headed your way!

When you apply for the Target Creator Program, you’ll need to share your social profiles. Target will take a look at them before letting you in. So, if your social media game is subpar, I’d stick with the less selective Target Partners Program (which I also discuss in this Target affiliate program review).

How Does The Target Affiliate Program Work / How To Use Target Affiliate Program?

If you’ve read this far into my Target affiliate program review, you’ve probably realized how much I love this program. It’s an opportunity any affiliate marketer should consider!

But now, it’s time for this Target Partner Program review to really break things down.

Here’s a step-by-step overview of how the Target Partners Program works:

  1. Sign up for the program. Head to the Target Partners page on the official Target website. When you click “Apply Now,” you’ll be taken to Impact.com, which is the platform Target uses for its affiliate program. You’ll complete the application through Impact (it takes just 5 minutes).
  1. Create content that inspires readers to buy Target products. This is where your creativity comes in. You could post standard product reviews – or something crazy, like a pillow fight video (to promote Target pillows, of course!). The goal is to get people interested in the products and then click your affiliate links to go on to buy something.
  1. Earn commissions of up to 8%. When someone clicks your link and then buys something within 7 days, you earn a commission.

The exact commission rates depend on two key factors:

  • The product category. Some categories pay up to 8% – while others don’t pay anything at all.
  • How much you’re selling. If you reach a certain number of monthly “actions” (A.K.A. sales) in a certain category, your rate could increase.

As an affiliate, you need to look carefully at your dashboard on the Impact Radius affiliate platform and then choose which products to promote based on their potential commission rates. You can also email any questions to [email protected]

A screenshot of the tracking available for the Target Affiliate program run through Impact Radius.
The Target Partners Program has lots of ways to track your sales – which is good, because that’s how you score commissions.

Okay, now for the most exciting section of this Target affiliate program review – the part where I describe how you’ll get paid!

When you sign up for the program, you’ll send Target a W9 form and enroll in the Target Vendor payment program. Then, as you promote products and earn commissions, the money will add up.

Just be aware of the fact that you might not get paid until 60 days after the product’s return period is over.

Imagine someone clicks your affiliate link and buys – oh, I don’t know, a whoopie cushion. And let’s say the customer has the option to return the item for a full refund within 30 days. If they return the whoopie cushion, you won’t get your commission. And if they don’t return it after 30 days, Target can take up to 60 additional days to pay your commission.

I know, I know. The delay kind of stinks, but it’s normal in the world of retail affiliate programs. Target just wants to make sure the purchase is finalized before they send you a commission. Can’t blame them, right?

How To Become A Target Creator?

Three simple steps to become a Target Creator:

  1. Make sure the Target Creator Program is realistic for you. Otherwise, join the Target Partners Program instead.

The Target Creator program is really just for social media influencers. If you aren’t committing to posting regularly on social media, you’re better off joining the Target Partners Program (which I discuss in other sections of this Target affiliate program review).
  1. Apply for the Target Creator program.

Head to the Creators page of the official Target website and click “Apply Now.” From there, you’ll provide basic information about yourself and share links to your social media profiles.
  1. Get accepted and start promoting Target products.

If you’re accepted into the Target Creator Program, you can post about Target products on social media. You should also create a Target Storefront, which is basically a personal online shop where you can offer a curated selection of your favorite Target products.

Now, let’s talk money in my Target Creator Program review.

As a Target Creator, you can earn commissions of up to 10%. The exact commission depends on the product category. It breaks down like this:

CategoryCommission Rate
Apparel and Accessories10%
Home10%
Toys5%
Sporting Goods5%
Food and Beverages3%
Cosmetics8%
Health and Beauty5%
Baby Gear and Furniture5%

You could also earn monthly bonuses for hitting revenue goals. The more revenue you bring in, the more you’ll get paid!

Here are the monthly bonuses offered by the Target Creator Program:

Monthly RevenueMonthly Bonus
$1,000+$100
$5,000+$500
$10,000+$1,000
$25,000+$2,500
$50,000+$5,000
$100,000+$10,000

Just like with the standard Target Affiliate Program, Target Creators don’t get paid commissions right away. Target has to make sure the products aren’t returned before they pay you (otherwise, they would be in danger of coming out behind). You can expect to receive your commission within 60 days after the purchased product's return period.

If you have any questions while working as a Target Creator, you can get help by messaging the Target Creator email: [email protected].

Examples of Target Creators.

What Is The Catch With The Target Affiliate Program?

The one catch with the Target affiliate program is they advertise commission rates of “up to” 8%. Well, you'll only get that rate if you reach a monthly sales target.

What Is The Catch With The Target Creator Program?

Target Creator program review truth: the major catch with the Target Creator Program is that not everyone is accepted.

It's worth applying to the Target Creator Program if you're an influencer who regularly posts on social media and already has a sizable audience. If that’s not you, apply to the Target Partner Program instead. That’s Target’s more general affiliate program.

Is The Target Affiliate Program Safe?

The Target Affiliate Program is completely safe. If it were dangerous, I wouldn't have written a positive Target affiliate program review in the first place!

One thing I love about Target is that they’re totally honest in their privacy policy. They come right out and say that they collect user data as part of the Target Partners Program.

But there’s nothing sketchy about this. They need your data so they can bring you into the program, track your commissions, and pay you. If you’re not okay with that sort of data collection, affiliate marketing probably isn’t for you.

Is The Target Creator Program Safe?

The Target Creator Program is a safe way for influencers to make money.

Yes, Target collects personal data – but how else would they effectively run an influencer program? They can only track your sales and pay you commissions if they know who you are!

What matters is that Target has an excellent track record.

Google “Target Creator scams” and see what shows up. (I did it myself. And while I found reports of malicious actors pretending to be Target, it seems Target itself is completely safe to work with).

Target Affiliate Program Pros and Cons

It’s time for this Target Partner Program review to lay out the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • Target sells over a million products. No matter the topic of your blog or website, you can probably find plenty of items to promote.
  • The commission rate goes up to 8%. That’s higher than what you’ll see with a lot of affiliate programs.
  • You get rewarded for success. If your website is super popular and you secure a lot of sales for Target, you could get rewarded with a higher commission rate.

Cons:

  • Not all products earn a commission. Your commission rate depends on the product category, and some categories don’t pay any commissions at all.
  • The cookie window is just 7 days. It could be worse (some affiliate programs have just a 24-hour cookie window) – but it could be a lot better, too.
  • It can be tough to earn the higher commission rates. For example, 8% sounds amazing, but you’ll only earn that much if you hit a certain number of monthly sales in a specific product category.

Target Creator Program Pros and Cons

The Target Creator Program is an enticing option for influencers, but don’t apply until you’ve considered the benefits and drawbacks.

Pros:

  • You can earn commission rates of up to 10%. Drive lots of sales, and you could end up with a pretty paycheck!
  • Target pays monthly bonuses for reaching revenue goals. You’ll get a bonus if you drive at least $1,000 in monthly revenues.
  • You’ll get to create a “Target Storefront.” This is basically your own online Target shop where you can promote your favorite products to earn commissions.

Cons:

  • There’s no guarantee you’ll get in. Target asks for your social channels when you apply – and if they’re not impressed with what they see, they might reject you.
  • The commission structure is confusing. Instead of offering a flat rate, Target has different commission rates for each product category.
  • Some products have low commission rates. For example, the “food and beverages” category pays just 3%. (Sorry, cooking influencers!)
