Viator Affiliate Program Review [2024]

We’re reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.

A walk on the beach. A dip in the ocean. And then a few minutes uploading pictures so your followers click an affiliate link.

That’s probably the digital nomad lifestyle you’re dreaming of.

Now, it isn’t really that easy to earn a living – but worldwide, travel is a $11.1 trillion industry.1 So, it’s realistic to think you can succeed as an affiliate marketer in the travel niche.

My Viator affiliate program review describes how to earn money by promoting travel-related experiences.

I can’t promise you’ll end up as a professional beach bum – but hey, there’s a chance!

I’ve helped travel content creators make millions of dollars with travel affiliate programs. Join my free newsletter for insider tips and new strategies:

What Is The Viator Affiliate Program?

The Viator affiliate program allows you to earn an 8% commission rate by promoting Viator – a massive travel booking site associated with Tripadvisor.

A day trip to Cinque Terre, Italy available to book on Viator.
My Viator affiliate program review shows you how you’ll earn $51 dollars each time someone books this Italy Cinque Terre tour with your Viator affiliate link that earns an 8% commission.2

One thing I love about the Viator affiliate program is that, unlike some other affiliate programs, you can get paid once a week (instead of once a month)!

You can compare the Viator affiliate program vs Get Your Guide affiliate program and see they both pay 8% commission, but Viator pays weekly and Get Your Guide pays monthly.

As a Viator affiliate, you'll use your website, travel blog, YouTube, or social media channels to recommend experiences through Viator. When people click the links you've shared and book an experience, you’ll earn 8% of the transaction.

There's a lot to like about the program, which is why my Viator affiliate program review is so positive!

extra point Extra Point: Of course, there are other affiliate programs with a lot to offer. Check out my Temu affiliate program review to make money promoting cheap travel gear.

Viator is an online platform that helps people book trips and travel experiences.
The Viator affiliate program lets you earn commissions by promoting travel-related experiences such as day trips to the Amalfi Coast, guided tours through Greece, snorkeling trips in Hawaii, and more!

Is The Viator Affiliate Program Legit?

Here’s something my Viator affiliate program review should make clear: This is a legit way to make money!

Why? Let’s start by looking at Viator. It’s a mega-popular booking site run by Tripadvisor.

If you’ve ever researched travel destinations online, you’ve probably encountered Tripadvisor. Tripadvisor is a public billion-dollar company listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange.

Tripadvisor not only owns Viator, but they also own Expedia, Booking, and more. Holy moly macaroni!

A tour around Paris that's available to book on Viator platform.
You’ll earn about $12 dollars in commission each time one of your followers books this Paris tour by clicking your Viator affiliate link.

So, Viator is a legit company, but what about affiliate marketing in general?

Affiliate marketing is a standard model where people partner with companies to promote products and earn money.

I’ve worked with both small businesses and huge corporations that made most of their money through affiliate marketing.

It works because it’s simple. You (the content creator or publisher) get paid whenever someone buys something – in this case, a travel experience through Viator – when your audience uses your affiliate link.

Why would Viator do this? Because you’re promoting Viator and they don’t have to pay you at all unless someone buys something through them.

And it’s a good deal for travel content creators and publishers like us because we don’t have to be responsible for any product shipping or customer service. We influence our audience and followers to purchase a service that we know will do good by them.

The Viator affiliate program is a legit opportunity for travel influencers, travel content creators, lifestyle bloggers, and more. You do need an audience and you do need to show your audience how Viator can make their trip more memorable and fun.

As a travel influencer or travel vlogger, etc., I recommend you also sign up for the Temu affiliate program because you can promote cheap travel gear like suitcases and more. Temu pays more than Amazon in commission. I’ve also had good experiences buying no-name travel crap, er, stuff on Temu for way cheaper for the same product on Amazon.

Is The Viator Affiliate Program Worth It?

Here’s the verdict of this Viator affiliate program review: The program is worth it for almost anyone, but it’s especially worth it for anyone who loves posting about their travel experiences.

Next time you hit some beautiful destination, you post about it online. In that post, you share an affiliate link for a Viator experience in the area. It costs you nothing, but you could earn some easy commissions.

Keep up that habit, and you could grow your audience until you’re making good income from Viator commissions.

A nighttime excursion in Hawaii available to book on Viator.
Let’s say you make travel content about Hawaii. Wouldn’t it be awesome to let your audience know about cool, highly-rated Viator experiences they can have? And you get paid for it!

And what if you’re new to affiliate marketing and still trying to find your niche?

Well, travel is probably the most exciting niche you could imagine!

I worked for a small business travel website run by a couple that made millions of dollars. That’s because so many people want to travel. When you help people accomplish their dreams, you’re solving their problems. And that’s worth money!

Plus, picture drinking a margarita in Cancun or snorkeling through the waters of Hawaii – and earning money for sharing your experiences with affiliate links. That’s a pretty cool business to have.

Check out these perks of the Viator affiliate program:

  • No payout threshold when you cash out through PayPal
  • There are no requirements for traffic or followers (anyone can join!)
  • You’re encouraged to share affiliate links with friends and family

While some affiliate programs only work at scale, the Viator affiliate program makes sense even if you’re in the early stages of growing your online business.

I especially like that the Viator affiliate program lets you cash out whenever you want. Other affiliate programs often make you wait until you’ve accumulated a certain amount of money such as $100.

How Does The Viator Affiliate Program Work?

The Viator affiliate program works by paying affiliates an 8% commission for the sales they produce. As an affiliate, you’ll earn more if you can attract more traffic and get more people to book experiences through Viator.

Interested? Your first step is to sign up for the Viator affiliate program.

Creating a Viator affiliate account is easy.

Just head to the “Partners” page of the official Viator website, and then click “Become a Viator Affiliate.”

You’ll be taken to a sign-up page where you’ll create an account and answer a few questions about your online presence.

Unlike a lot of affiliate programs, the Viator Affiliate Program doesn’t have minimum traffic or follower requirements. So, don’t worry – you don’t have to have to be “Insta-famous.”

Once you’re accepted into the program, your job is to promote Viator’s travel packages to your readers or followers. You’ll have plenty of options to choose from since Viator offers 300,000 experiences spread among 2,500 destinations.

And “experience” could mean almost anything – from a cooking class to a volcano hike.

You choose between this wide variety of experiences with the “Viator Selector.” It helps you filter through Viator products, so you can find the ones that will best appeal to your audience.

You can promote Viator experiences through practically any online medium, including:

  • Blog posts  (Don’t yet have a blog? Here’s the best blogging platform)
  • Travel articles on your website
  • Social media content
  • YouTube videos
  • Podcast (Here’s the best podcast hosting)

Just make sure you post a Viator affiliate link with your content. If someone clicks the link and books a trip through Viator within 30 days, you’ll get your 8% commission.

As you earn commissions, the money will add up in your Viator account. Then, you can choose between 2 payout options:

  • Bank transfers: Paid out monthly (once your account has at least $50 in it).
  • PayPal: There’s no payout threshold, and you’ll be paid once a week.

While this might seem like a “standard” affiliate program, it’s actually pretty sweet. A 30-day cookie window? Payouts every week? Those aren’t perks you get just anywhere. There’s a reason this Viator affiliate program review is so enthusiastic!

What Is The Catch With The Viator Affiliate Program?

There’s no “catch” with the Viator affiliate program. The program works exactly as promised and gives affiliates an 8% commission on the sales they produce for Viator.

As with all affiliate programs, this is not a way how to make money fast, unless you already have a big enough audience who is very interested in the affiliate partner. Instead, you can learn:

Is The Viator Affiliate Program Safe?

The Viator affiliate program is completely safe to use (even though Viator does collect a lot of personal data).

According to Viator’s privacy policy, they collect all sorts of data related to your online browsing activity. They also share data with third parties, including advertising networks.

But I wouldn’t be too freaked out. It’s typical for websites to do this type of thing. And I can’t find any reports of scams or crimes involving the Viator affiliate program.

That’s why this Viator affiliate program can declare without hesitation that the program is safe to use!

I’d also like you to focus on the safety of your business. It only takes one lunatic follower to sue you. That’s why you hear over and over again about forming an LLC. An LLC protects your personal assets in case something happens to your business, such as unexpected business debt.

Viator Affiliate Program Pros and Cons

The Viator affiliate program is definitely user-friendly, but that doesn’t mean it’s 100% perfect. Let’s break down the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • You can get paid every week through PayPal. Many companies make their affiliates wait a full month (or more) to tap their earnings – but not Viator!
  • There are no follower or traffic requirements. That makes the Viator affiliate program great for beginners.
  • The cookie window is 30 days. So, if someone clicks your affiliate link, you can still get a commission even if they wait weeks before booking a Viator experience.

Cons:

  • Viator isn’t part of an established affiliate network. They run their own program instead. It works fine, but it means you’ll need to create a separate account (rather than going through an existing account on an affiliate platform).
